In closing we recap what we need to remember going forward:
We need to maintain good hand hygiene.
We need to ensure our frequently touched surfaces are cleaned at frequent intervals.
We need to maintain social distancing due to the nature of how COVID-19 is spread.
If we start feeling any of the symptoms we need to self isolate and get tested.
If we have tested positive and have had contact with others it would be good to inform them to ensure they can get themselves cleared.
If we contracted this virus as a result of our work or working environment, we should inform our employer & doctor to begin the necessary paperwork.
We need to comply with our workplace, procedures, plans and risk assessments as well to ensure that we follow the new criteria related to social distancing that may have been implemented in our absence such as new office arrangments, new transport procedures or rotation of shifts. This includes using the quarantine areas, and sanitising stations tht may have been impemented and maintaining good workplace hygiene.
When we return home from work, it would be good practice to sanitise our hands and masks or other PPE we were issued in the fight against COVID-19 as well as ourselves before we have close contact with members of our family.
As much as our employer needs to ensure our health and safety in the workplace, we need to remember that we have a responsibilitity to take care of our own health and safety and that of our colleagues so working together during this time is of great importance. This includes maintaining any items issued to us in the interest of our own health and safety in this fight against COVID-19.
